PCCA STEEL BAND |
The Pinellas County Center for the Arts Steel Band under the direction of Joe Braccio has performed for many venues in the Tampabay area with a mixture of classic island music as well as other genre’s of sound. They include performances for the Buccaneers, Rays, Lightning, and Mutiny professional teams along with performances for March of Dimes, Breast Cancer, Hospice, and various locals Medical centers. The band consists of members from the Performing Arts school at Gibbs High School under Ralph Nurmela and continues to provide the community a vast cultural experience. Former members include American idol performer this year, Michael Lynche who was the bass player for the band in its First Year. |

SHEILA KISTEN HUGHES & THE TSP ORCHESTRA |
Described by Music Connection magazine as “an artistic project that aims for something unique,” Sheila Kirsten Hughes and the TSP Orchestra’s earthy, jazzy blend of acoustic-tinged music has drawn a broad range of comparisons from Dave Matthews Band to Hawaiian superstar Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (“Somewhere Over the Rainbow”) to Sarah McLachlan. The band was a Semifinalist in the 2007 Independent Music World Series, a Disc Makers competition, and “Let It Rain Down” off their 2006 release, Perspectives, received an “Honorable Mention” in the 2007 Singer/Songwriter Awards, a London-based international songwriting competition. TODD PLANT BAND |
Vocal chameleon Todd Plant has assembled some of the finest musicians in Tampa Bay to present a sizzling variety show – Journey, Marvin Gaye, Santana, Hank Williams Jr., The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Black Eyed Peas – there’s a little something for everyone. Todd toured the US and Europe with former members of The Doobie Brothers, Chicago, Steely Dan, Marshall Tucker and many others. He’s recorded dozens of CDs with his original bands and as guest vocalist for artists as diverse as blues guitarist Greg Poulos, metal bands Iced Earth & Savatage, Japanese Eurobeat, and even Hulk Hogan’s fight song “American Made”. www.ToddPlant.com |

VOODOO SOUP |
Mix an explosive lead/slide guitarist to a rock-steady, veteran bass and drums rhythm section and you’ve got the bluesrock trio Voodoo Soup…think early Allman Brothers, Freddy King, James Gang, Government Mule, Cream, ZZ Top, as well as lots of original music. Chip Jordan recently returned from his second European tour and, now teamed with bassist Wes Schaefer and drummer "Blues" Simpson, is up and running in the greater bay area. DENISE MOORE AND THEN SOME |
Denise Moore, is an engaging jazz and blues songstress with a wide vocal range and a phenomenally accurate ear. This blue-eyed chanteuse is more than a percussionist and arranger, for she injects personal style into many of the great standards and classics. She is deeply influenced by Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles, but it is likely you will also hear Denise eloquently perform songs by recent chart-toppers like Diana Krall and Norah Jones. " NOTHING STANDARD" was released in 2007 with great reviews. Denise was also a featured vocalist for the Tampa Bay Women's Blues Revue for ten years. In 2002, the ten-piece group of divas recorded “Tell it.” The group received the Virginia Slims Diva award in 1999, which donated $10,000 to the Tampa AIDS network. With versatility and years of experience in entertaining the Tampa Bay area, Denise remains an ever-blossoming artist that is sure to delight her audience. ACOUSTIC HARMONY |
"Your voices and blend are amazing!" exclaim fans of Acoustic Harmony, the guitar/vocal duo of Gary Young and Leah Clark. Using nothing but an amplified Ovation guitar, some percussion, and their voices, the duo have been wowing audiences across the Tampa Bay area since the first night they hit the stage together. Their 150+ repertoire spans an impressive list of genres not often found in one performance package. GROUP HAVANA SWING |
Group Havana Swing was founded on February 2009 by Gaby Sequeira(Bass), Abel Feria(lead Vocal), Leyo Peña(Piano) and Henry Mendoza(Keyboards and Electronic Percussio) the band director. The newest member, Jennifer Hernandez, female vocalist, was born in Bogota Colombia, and started her singing carrier first in Singapore and later in Dubai. Jennifer brings the South American flavor to the group and a beautiful female voice. With 3 of the 5 members born in Cuba their repertoire includes Cuba’s Son Montuno, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Hot Ballads, Boleros, Cha Cha Cha, Cumbias, and much more! BUNKO SQUAD |
Bunko Squad sports a former punk-lite rocker and Midnighter with Hank Ballard (Judy Tampa); a guitarist who plays djembe, Irish bouzouki, and mandolin pretty much all at once (John McEwen); a tall-tale-teller from West Virginia (George Pappas); a drummer whose mouth is bigger than his kit (Harry Hayward); a bass player who writes, sings, and crawls on her belly like a reptile (Anne VanAtta); and a resonator guitar player who just doesn’t stop (TJ Weger). OPERA TAMPA |
Opera Tampa is the resident opera company of the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. Opera Tampa produces and presents the highest caliber of grand opera, complete with the spectacle and grandeur that makes opera "the queen of the performing arts." The 2009/2010 season presents on March 28 the Arias and Encores concert, a celebration of 15 years of beautiful music, and on April 23 and 25 La Rondine, one of Puccini’s most elegant and emotional operas. The “grand finale” of the opera season will be the Opera Tampa’s 15th Anniversary Benefit, featuring a concert by renowned tenor Marcello Giordani, on May 16th.
