Into the Millenium (As Told in Garyglyphics)

Bruce Holwerda

“Wild Thing”
by Bruce Holwerda

Bruce Holwerda resides and works in his home studio in the small, quiet town of Midland, Michigan. A graduate of the Kendall School of Design (Grand Rapids MI) in Illustration and later from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts, Bruce has worked as a Freelance Artist in upstate New York and as a Staff Illustrator for a mid-Michigan Advertising/Communications agency.

This year’s poster image “Wild Thing” is an acrylic illustration board about 24"X30" that is a good example of the style Bruce likes to work in. It is a blend of primitive design and machine helping to express energetic poses with special attention to the portraiture. Bruce likes this painting (and so do we) because there is an edge to it.

Bruce states, “For the last seven years I have shifted my energy to Fine Arts and have been displaying my work in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Maryland. My travels have been restricted mainly to the Midwest, so I am excited to be in Florida this year.”
