Into the Millenium (As Told in Garyglyphics)

By Jude Pokorny

Jude Pokorny

New England born artist, Jude Pokorny, has long been intrigued by elements of design. Her interest in reflections began as she explored her father's automotive world. Watching surfaces that collected and distorted light, she absorbed the beginnings of what was to be her unique style in the art world. Exaggerated perspectives contribute to her continual re-evaluation of making art.

She has been an automotive artist for the past fifteen years, enjoying the challenge of depicting different reflective surfaces. She paints realistically, subtly weaving abstract design within the composition. Her work suggests a keen appreciation of color and value relationship, creating a mood with shadows against dramatic highlights. Each of her paintings is a unique interpretation, seeming to capture her subjects for a private viewing. She translates her love for the effects of light reflection and refraction, and creates an intimate harmony between light and color. Through strong reflective imagery, she dissects the canvas, cuts through tradition, and expands the smallest detail.
